From 1st October 2023, all holiday homes are legally required to have a written fire risk assessment. Holiday home owners are required to take actions to improve fire safety in their holiday homes and protect lives.
We can help by carrying out the fire risk assessment for your property.
Our job is not to 'shut you down', nor to 'throw the book at you', it is to help you improve fire safety.
A fire risk assessment is a review of the fire safety of your property and the actions required to help you improve fire safety and protect lives.
The aims are to protect lives by reducing the risk of a fire starting, slowing or reducing the spread of any fire, protect escape routes, and alert people as early as possible to give people the best chance of escape.
The process starts with an inspection of the property, following which, all findings are written down in a methodical order to produce the fire risk assessment.
The fire risk assessment will include actions that can or must be taken to reduce the risk of fire and protect lives. These actions may include changes to alarm systems, changes to doors or windows, and a number of smaller actions that can all help to reduce the risk of fire such as information to provide to guests.
Our fire risk assessments will also outline requirements for regular testing of alarms, training of staff and regular checks of the property and other equipment.
If you have a holiday let of any type, you must have a written fire risk assessment. This applies to houses, flats, lodges, chalets, static caravans, yurts, shepherds huts and any other sleeping accommodation.
Even if you rent out one room in your house for one night per year, you must, by Law, have a written fire risk assessment.
We can carry out a fire risk assessment on your holiday accommodation, whether this is a house, flat, lodge, chalet, static caravan or other self-catering accommodation. We specialise in self-catering holiday accommodation.
To book a fire risk assessment, please email us with your property details, including the address and a link to the property listing online, whether that's Airbnb, Booking.com or your own website. We will arrange with you to visit your property, carry out our inspection and provide the written fire risk assessment, normally within 7-10 days.
